Coping with Bullying: Finding My Voice and Rebuilding Self-Worth

Shared by someone aged 10-14 from NT
Posted on 11 July 2025

Years of relentless bullying, both in person and online, left me with deep insecurities and a gnawing sense of anxiety that permeated every aspect of my life. The constant taunts, exclusion, and psychological torment eroded my self-worth, making me believe the cruel words that were hurled my way. I felt isolated, ashamed, and utterly alone, convinced that something was inherently wrong with me.

It felt like I was constantly walking on eggshells, dreading social interactions and trying to make myself invisible to avoid further torment. The effects lingered long after the bullying stopped, manifesting as social anxiety, difficulty trusting others, and a pervasive feeling of not being good enough.

Finding my voice and learning to stand up for myself, initially with the help of trusted adults and later on my own, has been a pivotal part of my healing journey. It was terrifying at first, but each small act of self-advocacy helped me reclaim a piece of my stolen confidence. Building a strong, supportive network of genuine friends and mentors who saw and valued me for who I truly am has also been crucial. I'm still learning to quiet the echoes of the past, but I am committed to rebuilding my self-worth and embracing a future free from the shadows of bullying.
